` Spanish Flan Recipe

How to Make Spanish Flan!

Needed Ingredients:

Flan is a dessert found in many different cultures, including Spanish culture. The dish, as made in this recipe, has a sweet, rather rich, taste and texture to it. Although it can be made using a variety of different methods and ingredients, this is the recipe my family typically uses to make flan. It is rather simple to make, if time-consuming, and the ingredients can be modified slightly to provide subtle changes in taste and texture. I will mention these later in the page. There is also a "print" button at the bottom of the page, with a condensed print version of the recipe. Without further ado, here is what you'll need to make flan!

1 Can (14 oz.) Eagle Brand sweetened condensed Milk
1 Can (13 oz.) Carnation Evaporated Milk**
4 Eggs
1 tsp. Vanilla
1 oz. Water**
1 Cup Granulated Sugar**

**Note: The amount of evaporated milk you add can be decreased by replacing the difference from the recipe's amount with water, which will make the flan a bit less rich. The amount of sugar can also be decreased if you desire a flan that is a bit less sweet. Remember that too little sugar and/or too much water will make the flan lose its taste and consistency.

Preparation Directions:

Heat oven to 350 degrees.

Step 1: Heat sugar in a pan 3" deep and 8" (or 9") in diameter on low flame until it is completely dissolved (like caramel). Careful, it will be hot. Let it cool about 2 minutes.

Step 2: In blender, blend the Eagle Brand milk, Carnation milk, eggs, vanilla & water all together for about 3 minutes.

Step 3: Pour the blended ingredients onto the pan with the melted sugar.

Step 4: Fill a larger pan with 8 oz water and place the other pan with the ingredients in it. Bake @ 350 degrees for 75 minutes.

Step 5: When completely cool (about 4 hours or over night), flip the flan over on a pyrex pie dish.
And you're done!
